the story follows the young lady & her hubby fallowing go into a New York City apartment next door to enthusiastic, oversolicitous neighbors. the few obviously have a binky user; 1 nighttime a woman has a vision that she is existence raped by a select few demonic presence, and late she finds out that she is pregnant. the woman begins to slenderize instead of gaining it, & comes to suspect that her neighbors come section of a Satanic cult sustaining designs on her when-eventually-unborn kid, & that her hubby is working with the two.

Levin's novel was the right-seller, & was adapted as a 1968 feature film directed by Roman Polanski and starring Mia Farrow as the married woman, John Cassavetes as the husb&, and Ruth Gordon and Sidney Blackmer as the neighbors. Gordon won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in the film.

This film was Robert Evans' first large hit heading Paramount Pictures. He was closely required in the production, & many days experienced to treat sustaining Mia Farrow's precarious relationship by using so-significant other Frank Sinatra. Farrowing & Sinatra divorced before long when a film was completed.
